Wongwianyai - Mahachai day return. This section of the Maeklong Railway starts in Bangkok and ends in Mahachai, with a ferry ride across a river to get to the next section at Ban Laem. Sadly the tickets are now computer issued paper format, but the Maeklong railway remains delightfully unspoilt.

My attention has been drawn to a website for model gas turbine enthusiasts (I did not know you could scale these), and there are several images of what appears to be a very decent model of GT3.

Here.
I was in York briefly last month and popped into the NRM. What struck me was that there were few "glamour" locos there, most of them being on the mainline etc, stored elsewhere, with notable exceptions such as Mallard, and one is left with such stalwarts as Aerolite (representative of what?), Gladstone etc. I find the NRM's attitude of accepting prototypes bizarre, such as "Deltic", the APT and now the prototype HST. The locos that merit a place are surely the ones in everyday service. I can't see why the HST prototype commands a place round the turntable when the Class 52 is relegated to the tent out the back.
The display of nameplates is a bit haphazard and a number of them are shall we say, fairly ordinary, although there are of course some very good ones.

If someone says you look like the side of a tram, it could be a compliment. HK No 22 in a sadly short-lived livery.

Hong Kong Tram 120, May 2008. 120 is in a quasi-"original" condition, with wooden/rattan seats. The Tramway Company always keeps the advertising somewhat restrained on 120 compared with the all over version used on all the others and one can see the basic green livery. |
