This page is intended to cover, briefly, other categories of railwayana. It will be developed as suitable photographs
come to hand.
Handlamps
Handlamps, as the name implies, are lamps used by railway staff. The more valuable lamps tend to carry brass
plates showing the station or district to which they were assigned. Handlamps are one of those categories of railwayana
which can appeal to non-enthusiasts, and at the cheaper end of the market, you may well find better buys at an
enthusiast auction than in a generalist auction or antique shop.
However,
there are some serious collectors in this field and at the top end of
the scale, lamps can go for several £000.
